You have a few options (depending on what year your Box is):

If anyone follwed the Rentech thread.. all I can say is Holy Cow !! What a drill!! Is there something we can do before the battery dies to make this process simpler? Mine is not a daily driver, as a result I know one cold winter day when I go to start it the battery might be dead. Surely the bright engineers at Porsche have a better solution to this problem. Or is this guy in toruble because he disconnected the battery?

Several options-

Leave hood open

Use a battery tender

Both

Start car and run it every couple of weeks

Good luck!
