Seat Belt Not Retracting

Does anyone have a DIY Fix for slow or non retracting seat belts?

Silicone spray on the belt - pull it out all the way and spray the belt with silicone spray from both sides and keep pulling it in and out to work it in good...

Thanks Heiko that's a great fix. Worked a treat.

Glad it worked :)

I will give this a try, because I have 2 vehicles that is doing this. Is it a generic silicone spray, or a special type of silicone spray?

I believe Porsche has a lifetime seatbelt warranty, I would take it back to the dealer.

This was the case also with my Infiniti FX45 , the seatbelt crapped out at 102k and the dealer replaced it for free.

Just plain old silicone spray... most of it is cut with alcohol and evaporates but a little of the silicon stays behind and lubes the belt that gets stiff over time. Just make sure you pull it out all the way spray plenty on and work it in by pulling and winding the belt a few times...
Not sure how well the Porsche warranty works, but I took my beemer back to BMW one day because one of the rear belts kept sticking... and they wanted to charge me for the belt and the labour, so i said screw that... silicon spray fixed that as well.

Thanks heiko, silicone spray it is.

Skrapmot, since I installed a 987 seat into my 986, and also a brey-Krause roll bar extension that involves the seat belt assembly mounting point, I am thinking the warranty won't be in effect. I will definitely try to take my other vehicle into the dealer though.
