New boxster horror story

Hi bought my first boxster a month ago, drove from guys house and engine overheated. Pulled in at service station, black smoke everywhere. Got it towed to specialist. They said the oil filter housing wasn't on the car and the radiator needed bled so got that done plus major service. The spark plug tubes were melted also so had those replaced. Picked car up from specialist and drove the car home, about 40 mile journey. When i arrived in my home town the car was misfiring, lost power and cut out. I was able to start it after it cut out and just got home. The specialist is being very helpful, he sent one of his mechanics out to fit a new coil pack to cylinder 6 where the misfire code was being displayed. When i took it for a drive it had made and improvement but still a loss of power through rev range. Also the code came back cylinder 6 misfire. There is also a slight water leak, I'm topping about 500ml of water after the 40 mile journey and about 100ml after 5 mile journey. No mayonnaise in oil cap.

wow this sucks man, unfortunately alot of people buy these cars and dont properly maintain them then pass them off to the other guy.

Its gonna be like this for awhile till you work out all the gremlins.

did they replace the spark pplugs when they swapped the coils and spark plug tubes?

yes all new plugs, I think the bad coil has taken the plug out with it.

Not a Boxster horror

But a horror provided by the last mechanic.

By filter housing you mean there was no oil filter? And thus no oil? And massive overheat? I'd be seeing the guy who sold it for selling a product unfit for use. Because I see nothing but trouble in your future with an engine that massively overheated..

Did you have a PPI performed?

I would give this thing back ASAP and get your money back! This is exactly why there are Lemon Laws. This could be a very expensive lesson my friend. May be better to cut your losses and find another one.

He's in the UK, I don't think the Lemon Law will cover him over there :ah:. You overheated due to no oil AND the spark plug tubes MELTED? Dude, dump that car before the engine dumps you. Bring it back (on a flat bed) and get your money back:troll:.

Trust us, that engine is toast!!

The lemon law, does not apply to used cars or private sellers.

The cars rear plastic window has just started to detach it self from the side of the canvas. I am raging about the whole thing! My faith in Porsche has gone down hill.

I feel for you man, but I'd say Porsche has little or nothing to do with your current woes.
The PO's maintenance (or apparent lack thereof) is now biting you in the a$$.
Shoulda gotta PPI, my friend. They show you the stuff you are dealing with now, but before you lay your hard-earned money on the table.
It's got to be hard to swallow, but caveat emptor. Dirtbags don't just sell clapped out Cavaliers & minivans.
Obviously some sell Porsches too. :(
