Best ECU Upgrade

Thinking of upgrading the ECU software.

What do you think gives the best bang for buck?

I was very pleased with the custom program that FVD/Brombacher created for me that was specific to my vehicle's modifications . However, there are a couple of things to first consider:

1. Don't expect instant gratification from an ECU "tune" . In most cases, it's merely a subtle improvement in throttle response, fuel efficiency and perhaps a slight bump in hp.

2. It's wise to do all of your mods before re-mappoing the ECU.

I'm very happy with my Softronic reflash. It's been a couple of years, but the deal I got had the Softronic flash and Durametric software for around $750-800 .

Im in California where only 91 gas is available is it still worth to do any tuning?

There's a benefit to re-mapping the ECU if significant changes have been made to the vehicle's air intake system and/or exhaust . What this really does, is adjust the ECU's air/fuel parameters to deal with the heightened ratios . Short of that, one would be hard pressed to notice any significant changes in performance on an unaltered engine .
