Check the voltage on the battery. If you have a cell that is stating to go, this can reek havic on things like TC, airbags etc... When I bought my Boxster, it would start off of "ship's power", but was throwing an airbag fault. Turned out to be a bad cell in the battery. I had a battery cell die on my lexus that took out the TC, no symptoms other than inaccurate gauge readings and not traction control. The car started and ran fine... Once voltage was restored with a new battery, the problems went away.
