Suspension torque values
I'm getting a bit of noise in the suspension going over bumps and I want to check all the suspension fasteners before I move on to expensive component replacement, but, I can't find a comprehensive listing of torques,
The factory manual CD is incomprehensible to me. I can't even tell what components they are describing. So, does anyone have the torque values for the major suspension components? The lower control arms, drop links, rear upper control arms, diagnal control arms, sway bars, or anything else I've missed. Thanks, |
Bentley Manual:
FRONT Control arms to cross-member - 88ft-lb Diagonal control arm to transverse control arm - 118ft-lb Transverse control arm to wheel bearing - 56ft-lb REAR Control arm to body - 74ft-lb Control arm to carrier - 56ft-lb Trailing arm to control arm - 118ft-lb Trailing arm to body - 118ft-lb Track arm to carrier - 56ft-lb Track arm to chassis - 75ft-lb First thing I would check though would be the strut mount to body. They only take 24ft-lb but if loose will cause a lot of noise. I have replaced almost all of the above recently for the fun of it so am familiar with these. The car does drive like new but it is expensive. I did find a guy on ebay though that can save you hundreds. |
Thanks Whip.
