Porsche Emblem "P O R S C H E"
Has anyone replaced the Boxster emblem with a PORSCHE emblem from the rear of a panamera, I thought I saw a picture of one on here, but couldn't find it again, I have ordered the emblem but would like to look at it again before I install it.

Yes. Do a search.

Here's one to get you started:

Oh, and don't do it.:)

40 years ago, it was Dino guys putting "Ferrari" script on their 246s. Now we have Boxster guys lining up to put "Porsche" on their Finnish cars. ;)

 To each his own, but I don't really see a need to splatter the marque on the car (definitely not telling you not to do it, it's your car to enjoy). If people can't tell what it is on sight alone, they don't deserve to know. ;) |
Not a big fan:confused::confused::confused:
986 or badge less is best 4 me But this is your car |
Don't listen to them...check my garage pics; there is a picture of mine in there. Very discreet and sexy. ;)

I like the "PORSCHE" lettering on the trunk. I'd do it but I already have the mask on the middle brake light and I think one "PORSCHE" facing rearward is enough. Either the trunk, or the wind deflector, or the brake light - pick one. More than that and I'm like "OK, I get it already. It's a Porsche. Good for you."

Here ya go. ;)

Installed a PORSCHE emblem instead of the cheap plastic Boxster emblem and love the classic look of it .It is an artic silver 986.I would do it again anytime.First saw the picture on this site and fell in love with the look.If someone does not know it is a Porsche it's about time I show it........Lol

Emblem
I didn't know it was going to cause a ruckus, I have to agree, the first time I saw it on here, I thought it was kind of like the old school porsche's. I've just sort of thought they could of done a better job on making the Boxster emblem more classic, mine looks plastic no matter how I look at it. This is sort of like the one hump camel and the 2 hump camel argument.

Here are those measurements. ;)

I think that the spacing of the letters on the 2012 Boxster (and the Panamera btw) is a bit wider than what ParticleWave is showing, see picture. My broken Boxster emblem is coming off soon, the P O R S C H E emblem has been lying on my desk for a couple of weeks already.
Not sure whether I like ParticleWave's spacing or the 2012 Boxster spacing better. Argh, decisions, decisions.... http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1342246839.jpg |
I think it depends on your reference.
If you use the stop light width for a reference, the new Boxster spacing looks wider. If you use the outer edges of the trunk lid, ParticleWave's spacing looks the same or wider. |
I think it looks pretty good on a light colored car. I'm having trouble imagining it looking good on my Zenith Blue car.

I bought the silver PORSCHE emblem but didn't debadge and put it on because.... well, if I'm at the track and pass someone, I don't want them thinking I had an S, because even the 2.5 is deceptively fast, I've had some ask if it was a S, so I'm trying to maintain Porsche's good reputation ;) That's one of the reasons I haven't gone with LED tail lights or fancy headlights, I want anyone somewhat familiar with vehicles to easily recognize that yes, this is a older Boxster, 2.5 or 2.7 at best. Even I have a hard time telling mine from newer boxsters but the LED tail lights are a clear give-away But that looks decent, I'll have to try that. I also think I'll get a silver Boxster emblem, black emblem on black paint is impossible to see. |
