Bad ignition switch causing A/C system failure?
 

I was having the usual key insertion / removal problems, but the A/C was working fine.

I bought a Meyle switch for cheap, replaced the switch, and now the A/C and blower don't work at all. And the fuses are fine.

Could this be the fault of the cheap replacement switch?

Are the Audi switches really better quality, or do they have them made in China too?

Just to be sure...
 

... Connect the old switch and see if the A/C blower works.
It could be a coincidence or it may be a bad switch, but you need to determine which.

Yeah, I knew that was the way to go but I was trying to convince myself I could do it the easy way. :)

So I did put the original switch back in and the a/c and blower work.

Good news, bad news. Good news is I know what the problem is and can now fix it. Bad news is I wasted time and money on a bad product. Stay away from this Meyle switch!

The last switch that went bad on me was an Audi, so I don't think they are any better than anyone else's. I buy two at a time now so that I always have a spare. They are cheap enough in price, and quality, that I always want a spare on hand.
