Radiator replacement: 1998, 2.5
Hi,
I am hoping somebody may be able to help me. There is a massive hole in my right (driver's side) radiator, so I need to replace it. I am trying to figure out how to remove the old one. I have taken the front bumper cover off. The photo shows where I am right now. How do I proceed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1338733444.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1338733567.jpg |
Do you have a Bentley Manual? I had to take mine all apart last year and the photos and description was pretty good in there. Good luck.

I think you need to take off the inner wheel liner to get access to the radiator hoses. Pedro's has a write up in his section on removing radiator fans that would be helpful.

This DIY is pretty good:
Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Radiator Replacement and Cleaning - 986 / 987 Two hints from when I did this a few years ago: Be very careful not to damage the AC condenser or refrigerant lines in the process. Others have cracked the condenser and their project mushroomed exponentially. Also follow the Pedro coolant replacement DIY and carefully purge the air out of all the tight coolant passages in your motor. Failure to get all the air out risks a serious motor overheat and possible cracked heads. The process of changing the radiator is pretty simple. The cost of not doing it carefully is high. |
