Windows and such

There are many window threads -- but none I noticed seemed to have this combination.

1) The passenger window does not lower when the door is opened.
Either from inside or out.
I pulled the door off and swapped the locking mechanism.
Both new and old acted like they both had loose wires as I could hear the latch
engage and disengage, seemingly as I grabbed the connector. I find it unlikely
both latch mechanisms were bad -- and the connector seems solid.
I put it all back together as I didn't have any other spare parts and I was running out
of time that day.

2) I get the two chirp beep and my door locks button is red. Happens often.
I also think I hear the passenger latch mechanism fire from time to time.

3) I came back from a business trip to find the passenger window completely lowered
and the battery drained.

4) I charged the battery and was able to raise the window.

5) tonite, I had the drivers door open and the passenger door was open
and I noticed the passenger window oscillating about 1/2" up and down, about
an 2" below fully closed. I shut the door climbed in the drivers side
and was able to put the window completely up and I think it stopped hunting.

I'd like to dive in and fix this -- but I'm not sure what I am looking for?
Is this a window regulator? One of the micro switches if so which one?

Any "tests" I can do to narrow it down?

thanks,

Mike

Of course I had to go out and play with it.

Now what I have is

1) Passenger door opening does not turn on interior lighting but drivers side does

2) Drivers side door window now will not lower no matter what

3) Passenger door window will lower with center switch or top opening, but drivers will not for either.

4) I get one beep if I lock the car with key (FOB DOA), but two beeps upon opening. Car starts fine.

This is a head scratcher

in a different thread, Boxster window problem, I placed a photo of the internal printed wiring board that the main harness connects to. Internal switch connections are also routed via the printed wiring board to this connector.

my only experience was that the solder joints were bad and by reflowing the solder, my intermittant window problem was solved. I found this out during the process of wiggling the connector to remove the harness. had the battery connected. which is a no no for any electrical work/repair.

you may want to wiggle the harness by the connector as well as the connector and pushing up the wires at the same time and see if the window/door light comes on/off.
