Hood release, HELP!!

I have a 2004 boxster and the hood release motor is weak and will not open. Is there any way I can open it? It is not a battery issue, it is a weak motor. I just went shopping with the wife and we have a bunch of stuff in there and she is freaking out, sick of listening to her and need to get it open, I'm sure anyone can relate to that!! Thanks!!

Use the search function on this forum. Lots of info.

Have someone apply a little downward pressure to the trunk as you try again to open. ( takes the strain off the little tired motor) Your gaskets create upward pressure .

Yeah, that high-pitched whining sound from the vicinity of the passenger seat is the one problem I haven't been able to fix yet.

Haa!

there's an emergency release cable behind the headlight. lots of details on how to reroute it to the tow hook, and how to get to it if you have not rerouted it.

as someone already said, apply a light downward press over the release to take the tension off the mechanism while someone pulls the release button/handle in the cabin.

May have put too much in the trunk pressing upwards on the lid and thus more friction for the motor to overcome.
whenyourbatteryisdead - mikefocke2 has many hints on what you can do. I know you don't have a dead battery but some of the techniques including fishing for the mechanical hood release cable would be the same. The hood release motor will be a bit stronger if the engine is running at 3500 RPM. But try the press gently on the front edge of the hood while you see if the motor would work.

You'll be slimmer without the ice cream. The beer will keep.

That's what I thought, the motor is there to release the lock electronically and the frunk gasket pushes the hood up.
