Boxster S Headlight Problem

Just bought an 02 Boxster S as is. First Boxster for me but several past Porsches. The headlights don't come on when I turn the switch; there is just a momentary flicker. I can get high beams by pulling the stalk on the column back. Saw the identical problem described on Rennlist, but no thread to the cure. Have a manual on the way, but would appreciate any advice. Thanks

i had this problem with my passenger side when i first bought the car. turned out to be a combination of the connector on the headlight was broken (one of the prongs was missing) and the connector the assembly slid into was not able to stay erect when it was mated with the assembly, so it would tilt back, not allowing a good contact so only the fog and turn signals worked. new parts and everything was working.
