the problem is when i go to disconnect it, the alarm goes loopy (dont know where its getting its power from.) is there anyway of disabling the alarm whilst i take the battery out as i want to charge it

also will the alarm go off again when i reconnect the battery

What you describe is completely normal for these cars, and there is no way to disable it from happening without killing the security system.

You also do not need to remove the battery to charge it........

ended up replacing the battery in the end just to be on the safe side. tried bump starting it but when i did this none of the electrics worked! All good now.
