Cruise Control acting up

Hey all,

For a while now my cruise control has been acting strange. I don't know much about the system and was hoping one...or many of you would have an idea as to what the problem may be:

Sometimes it won't turn on, the green light doesn't come on and it will not "cruise". The bulb is good because it will turn on SOMETIMES, when the stalk switch is depressed. When it does work, and i approach a slower moving vehicle, depress the brake pedal, it turns off the whole cruise control system (even though the switch is still "on"). Also- when the cruise light on the dash is "off", it NEVER goes into cruise control. I am going to check the brake and clutch sensors right now, but i looked at them recently and all appeared to be working correctly.

ANY THOUGHTS? I appreciate the help in advance.

Yeah, i was working on something recently and had to unhook the battery for a while...after reattaching the terminals to the cables, i've also had lock problems...frustrating.

try doing a capacitive discharge.
disconnect the battery and touch the leads together for a couple minutes.
reconnect the battery.
