18" wheels
I have a 2001 Boxster S, it has factory 18" turbo twist on it now and I want to upgrade to a aftermarket wheel, what would I have to order to make sure the new 18" wheels fit. I'm looking for size front and back and offset information and anything else needed. Where is everything measured from? thanks in advance I'm new to the Boxster world, so I don't want to screw anything up.

18x8.5 front et52
18x10 rear et45 Are what I'm running 225/40/18 265/35/18 |
!8" wheels
What type wheels are you running, I have the same tire size also, what does the et52 mean?
|
They are team dynamics pro race 1.3 in silver
ET is the wheels offset, the distance from the centreline of the wheel to the hub mounting face, the lower the number the further they stick out |
pictures? cost?
considering these myself

do you have pics of the 18's? I am looking for a set. Also, what do you want for them, assuming you are getting rid of them

In general, you can eyeball the inner and outer clearances around the wheels/tires you have now and extrapolate to the new wheels.
From what I understand, 11" rear is pushing the limit of the wheel well clearance, with some people opting to use a 265-section tire instead of the more normal-for-11" 295 section. That can vary with tire brand/model since they do have different 'shoulder' profiles. Splitpin's explanation of offset measurement is perfect. If you are going from a stock 10" wheel with (for instance) 45mm offset, you may end up with a better fit at a different offset number. You can change 'effective offset' by using spacers -- as long as the wheel offset number is higher than your target offset number. For instance, many OE 11" wheels have a 65mm offset. You may need a 15 to 20mm spacer to fit the wheel correctly in the wheel well... If you have the luxury of a lift and time to experiment, I've seen people make a cardboard template of a tire, tape it to the rim and mount it up to check clearances. |

Peachstate PCA uses Parade rules as a basis, and if you change to non-stock wheels of any size, you are out of the stock class, and into the Production Class, and if you go over 1" wider than stock you will be in the Improved or Modified Class, with very few competitors and heavily modified cars. |

Is that a Prancing Pony badge on that Boxster?

And if you like the way the car drives now, deviate from your baseline specs as little as possible for the "upgrade" |
