Boxster CD holder

Hi, I have a 2001 Boxster (new owner) and would like to remove the CD holders and replace it with a 'void'... that sort of rubberized container I can put my wallet and cellphone in.

Question 1 : What is the part name for the referenced 'void' so I can order it.
Question 2 : How do I go about removing the CD holders.

Thanks
TerryT

I believe you want the Console Storage Shelf:

Pelican Parts - Product Information: 996-552-253-01-01C-OEM

Console Storage Shelf:Porsche Parts & Porsche Accessories - Wholesale Porsche Parts & Tequipment - Cayman Panamera Cayenn

There are a number of posts on how to access / replace console components; also look for Stereo Head Unit posts.... It doesn't look too difficult from what I've seen.

Ha, I just removed my "void" and replaced it with the CD holder! It comes out super easy. Just remove the black pads on both sides of the console by pulling on the rear of them (don't worry they won't break) and popping them off. Then you simply depress plastic tabs on the CD holder and pull it straight out. I'll sell you my "void" for $30.00. It's in excellent condition and includes the rubber mat. Interesting. I had the storage compartment in my last Boxster and didn't like it as it's just negative space. I have the CD holder in my current Box and love it. I put my wallet in my pocket or console and my phone in one of my cup holders.

Depending on whether you want the top one or bottom one,

I should have one you can have for a reasonable price.
