Convertible Window Operation

Hi, can anybody please describe the sequence of operation for the door windows when opening and closing the doors.

I assume (please - I do not know just guessing) that as I lift the door handle the window should drop a few mm to allow the door to open without the windo catchingthe roof. It then stays in that position until the door is closed again.

On mine when I lift the door handle the window drops and as soon as I let go it rises again.

Impact of this is the window sits outside of the roof when I close the door.

Has anybody seen this before and what could cause the problem and what could the fix be?

Thanks

Simon

In normal operation, the window is supposed to retract that 1/2 inch when you pull either the inner or the outer door handle, and then stay in that position while the door is open. It is only supposed to go back up after you close the door (and do not have the handle pulled out).

The malfunction you describe is usually caused by a defective microswitch inside the door lock assembly, or a loose/broken connection going to that switch.

Regards, Maurice.

Thanks Maurice

Last night after eading posts on windows standardization I tried that many times.

When in the car with roof up and windows closed when I open the drivers from the inside door the window drops as it should and stays in that position when I shut the door. Seems OK

From the outside when I lift the handle the window drops that 1/2 inch, so that makes me think the handle m/s is ok. However as soon as I let go of the handle (still with the door open) it rises again. So this makes the window to high to located under the roof when it closes. To make it fit I close the door and lift the handle to drop the window then release. Could it be related to the door open switch or as you say the door lock m/s

On the passenger door the window drops when I lift the handle, but only a few mm and it catches on the roof - less of a problem bu not right.

Thanks for the help

Simon

It could be a micro-switch or your regulators.
