Intake boots swapped?
 

I did my throttle body cleaning about 2 weeks ago. Noticed that the intake boot with a small nipple thingy had a crack in the nipple. where the thin plastic tube is inserted - drivers side. The other side seems fine. So I'm ordering the part and looking at the parts diagram from PP it seems like mine is on the wrong side?

The attached picture with item 10 in red shows the boot towards the rear of the car where the TB connects. But, in my car both those boots are towards the front (where item 28 is in the pic). I know I didn't swap them because I did not remove them from the manifold.

Is this how it should be? Am I to correct this? Can someone with a 2000 S 3.2 Egas please check and confirm?

I replaced o2 sensors and am getting fails on my Ready status (secondary air intake) and also P0507 now. Did a test drive and it seems to be on high idle (1100 rpm) when I come to a stop and then slowly reduces to around 7-800.

I think it's more towards reason 1 and I feel it's the crack in the nipple of the intake boot. Also my ribber tube from AOS to TB has a broken clip. Waiting for the new ones. But am really concerned that my boot layout doesn't match the diagram.

If someone can send a picture of their S intake and boots it'll greatly help. Thanks.

Thanks for the pic but, It does not show me the other side of the cross tubes. Believe you have an S. If you could just check your intake cross tube towards the front of the car (not the one the throttle body connects to) and check those boots on both sides of it. Do both have a nipple with a thin tube going into them? Or are those boots with nipples on both sides of the cross tube the TB connects to?

The nipple should be on the front side of the car and that's why it's not on your pic. Thanks,

Its the same pipe just turned over (180 degrees)...I just got through doing mine and had noticed the same thing.

So, those two boots with nipples on your car are attached to the cross tube towards the front and not the cross tube that the TB attaches to? Just to make sure.

They were, but I turned my left one around (drivers side) when I reinstalled it as I was able to reroute the vacuum line in a better way. So now one faces forward and one faces backward.

Replaced AOS, bellow and the rubber tube. It was a real pain given the access space. Also replaced the two boots with the vacuum (?) tubes going in. Old AOS tube had oil as well. Checked the TB and found light misting of oil and cleaned it. The Tb valve is not sticking but good amount of resistance when pushed manually and does spring back well.

Took it for a test drive and the ready status on Durametric showed Pass on 4 out of 5. The one still failing is 'Secondary Air System'. The P0507 code is persistent. Also got P0300 and P0306 'misfire on cylinder 6'. I'm going to swap the coils from 6 to something else and see what happens. Plugs, plug tubes, coil tubes were just replaced so I think shooting at the coil would be right approach right?

What do I do about the P0507? I noticed a high pitched whine noise on acceleration. Might be air being sucked? How do I narrow this to where the leak could be?

Bala, where in Durametric is this located? I couldn't seem to find the readiness codes section.

My version is 6.1.1.3 and it's under Engine Module ME7.2->Ready Status (below Input Signals).

Ah, maybe that's the difference. Mine is 5.2.2. so may not have the emissions readiness option.

No no, I have the latest version of Durametric. 6.1.1.5.

But my DME is 5.2.2., whereas yours is 7.2. Being able to read the emissions readiness codes may not be available for my DME. Or, at least, Durametric hasn't programmed it into their software yet.
