Home air compressor
Does one need to spend more than $50 on a home/garage air compressor? This would only be used for keeping up tire pressure. I see prices running the gamete from $14 to $*** figures. I notice a nice size one from Sears (Craftsman) for around $50 that looks adequate. Any experience out there or suggestions?

I have the Bon-Aire i8000 Goodyear 120V Direct Drive Tire Inflator. It works quickly and is pretty quiet. The one downside, is the screw-on connection to the valve stem. (I prefer a quick release clamp.) I got mine from Amazon.com

Thanks. The one I was looking at also has the screw on connection. I suppose you would over inflate by a pound then use my gauge to bleed down to the correct pressure.
May I axe what you paid for yours? The Sears one is around $50. AKL |
Approx. $50. I believe.

Spend $75 - $100 to get something with a 3-5 gallon tank (try Harbor Freight). If you're going to get a compressor, get one with enough CFM to drive a nail gun and an impact wrench. Inflators are fine, but a compressor with a tank is much more versatile.
