Rear View Mirror

The rear view mirror on my 2004 Boxster decided to pop off..!! Do you think I can get it back on..I have tried and tried. The mirror and the holder both came off, the mirror is now off the holder but I cant get the holder on the window..I think you must just put it on and twist..but hwo hard? Then getting the mirror on that..do you just push hard..?? Help..and thanks in advance

is the button still on the glass itself? If so, the stem as I recall is attached to it by putting on and then turning 90 degrees clockwise to lock into correct position (you will need pliers to do so and make sure you protect the finish w/ some towels, etc.).

Good luck :)

For those with this problem in the future, I thought I should follow up with the answer! Burg Boxster was quite right. To get the mirror holder back on the "button" that is glued on the windshield, just use vice grips ( and a cloth) and crank it 90 degrees. The hard part is if the mirror is actually off the holder as mine was. You have to use quite a bit of force to push the holder into the mirror..but it will go. If you break the mirror though you are in trouble so I was able to pop the mirror off first. Finally the switch to adjust the mirror from day to night goes on the bottom so it is a bit difficult to get it all back on the windshield..but it does fit! Good luck.

Glad it all worked out. Hope there's a good story as to how it got knocked off... next time though it might be easier to just re-detail your hood

:D

Ah so to remove/unlock a mirror one just grabs on and rotates?

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

Wait, never mind, that was the six-fingered man......
