Rear Under Cover Rubber Spoilers
2000 986
There are 2 small rubber spoilers that hang down just ahead of the tranny attached to the rear under cover. Anyone know what these are there for? I lost one last week and cannot find a part number to replace it with. Perhaps its not necessary? JD BOXSTER |
I think they're for cooling the engine similar to the brake ducts at the front.
I lost the passenger side one too and I've been trying to find replacement for it. |
If you are talking about what i think you are; I deemed them to be under body air scoops for additional engine/heat exchanger cooling, although I have never investigated as to exactly where the air was being directed....just a guess on my part.
Perhaps you could keep an eye on your temps but I highly doubt you will see anything. My educated guess is that you will fine until are able to get in there and replace it I am sure someone on here will have an exact answer for you |

Those little rubber spoilers are scoops that force air up and causes it to flow around and over the transmission. The part numbers are 986 331 361 02 for 986's up to 2000, and 986 331 361 03 for 2001 to 2004. You also need those little "push button" little rubber plugs that fasten them onto the aluminum plate bracket. Those part numbers are 999 507 774 40 and 999 507 775 40, two of each of those. Ordered thru suncoast. The actual part is $9.45 and the tabs I think are $0.60 each. Thanks Maurice!!
