How do I adjust the shift linkage?

I just changed the clutch and once it was all together REVERSE gear was very difficult to engage. I thought the adjustment was the connectors that are under the center console but after I did that I can't get REVERSE at all.

How do I adjust then? I have all other 5 gears and was able to drive it around the block last night when I had reverse.

Thanks
Chris

Oh I see the bolt on the transmission side to make the adjustment...duh!

Well. He kind of left me hanging there didn't he? I encountered the exact same problem. I'm done for today. Guess I'll look around on the side of the transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

My car is a racing car and as such not stock - I have a 2001 Boxster s with an early 5 speed box.

One of the projects that I did over the winter was to replace the bent and rusted shift linkage on the transmission to a nice new one. After the change I found I could no longer engage reverse.

Turned out that I had to lower the linkage a fraction - put a washer between the shift linkage and the transmission (two bolts under the transmission that mounts the linkage to the box) - and I could then get reverse again.

Not sure if this will solve your problem or not?

Sorry. Already solved it in the General Discussions page. I had a linkage turned upside-down. Thanks though.

Are you referring to the circled bolt in the attached image? I’m having a similar problem after swapping cables and am desperately searching for answers.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1685158763.jpg
