I have 2005 Boxster with the tiptronic on the steering wheel. Why would it be shifting when the shifter is still in auto mode? Any answers out there?????

Porsche gives you that ability in the auto mode to down shift (build revs) without having to take your hands off the wheel. The only other way is to hammer down on the throttle and in some situations that's not what you want to do. Once you don't make any inputs (accelerate, brake), the transmission will go back into the auto mode. Going into the manual mode will give you full control over shifting and will not go back into auto.

Personally I love it. Tooling down the road and some smart ass pulls up next to me wanting to run, I just flick the switch twice...3rd gear...half throttle...and he's in my rear view.

Really there is no way of telling until you describe the circumstances more...

Since this is his first post, I guessing he's new to the car and new to the functions of the Tip switches. My first experiance included downshifting while I turned corners (fat thumbing it). :troll:
