Front Bumper Cover Question

I am replacing the front bumper cover on my 2001 Boxster S. I have purchased a bumper on Ebay with a part # 997 505 311 00, will it fit my car?

Thanks

If the prefix 997 denotes that its designed to fit a 997 carrera, then it will not fit your vehicle.

Hello Johnny, can you check this ebay link and confirm, it says it will fit a Boxster from 99-05

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320588179052
Thanks

The seller has no idea what it is that he has listed. According to Pelican, that part number is for an '05 - '08 997 and will not fit a 986 Boxster. In addition, there was no "997" prior to '05, so I have no idea how he could describe the part as such.

Hope you didn't pay the clown for the item and you should always double check part numbers before bidding, especially from eBay sellers.

Just looking at the photos its clear that this bumper is not designed to fit a 986 boxster.
Its obvious that this seller has no clue as to the proper fitment for this bumper .

Depends on what you consider a "replacement"...factory 986 bumper covers will fit up to MY 2004 . Bumper covers from a 996 will fit up to MY 2001...after that, they changed headlight configuration. Lots of aftermarket choices, but fit and finish will be a PITA. 996 turbo, 987 and 997 will not fit.

Very popular upgrade is the MkI GT3 bumper cover...bolts right on and looks nice and not overly aggressive.

The last time I looked, there were plenty of oem 986 front bumpers in various condition available on EBay .
