Fuel pump and associated problems, help please !

Hi Guys,

I have a 2003 3.2S. It was running fine until left outside for two weeks after which it wouldn't start. It was cranking but not firing. I had it taken to a local independent who specializes in German cars. Anyway they replaced but fuel pump and the engine will now run, HOWEVER, apparently now the tachometer and the dash lights are not working and apparently there is a fuel level warning light on. He is suggesting that when the fuel pump stopped working (while the car was sitting with the engine off) it somehow has possibly blown the dash 'pod'.

I don't know a lot about car electrics but this seems nonsense !

Any thoughts about this possibility (I'm slightly concerned that the fuel pump just stopped working while the car was left as well.)

Thanks

Stuart
