CV joint boot replacement

OK. Merry xmas to the other side of the world.
Now a couple of things to point out when replacing inner CV boots.
Pay attention when dismantling the CV joint. The inner drive cog and surrounding cage that contains the ball bearings only goes together one way.
If you look closely at the inner cog you will see one end has a groove on the inside about 10mm down. That goes to the outer end of the spline. If you assemble the wrong way you will find the circlip does not seat correctly.
I suggest you dry fit everything before greasing.
Also the inner cage will not allow the the CV joint full movement if assembled incorrectly.
I had it fully assembled but had no articulation and had to start again.
The best advice I can give after a frustrating morning is pay attention when dissassembling!!
Dry fit before greasing.
The dust cap just taps off with very little effort..

CV joints are fun aren't they! I've done them dozens of times with my Formula Ford. The best part is trying to maneuver the joint to fit the last ball in place, only to have you're freshly cleaned parts fall apart onto the floor.

Fun, and frustrating. I had it completely assembled and greased twice, only yo find out the circlip would not seat and then after regreasing there was no articulation in the joint.
Third time lucky.
Yet to test drive as we are being inundated with wet weather.
