I wonder what is the most safe mode of these engines? I gather that the redesign of the head gasket 1999, the head gasket is no longer common mistakes. I'm curious since I check the prices of replacement or rebuilt engine the 2.4L, they are quite high in the range of $ 3,500 plus labor. This is a fairly complex engine with dual overhead cams and a balance shaft. Can I expect this engine to get to 150,000 miles with an average maintenance? Anyone out there run any of these engines for high mileage without a tear? Have been used in caravans, cars, Cloud and PT Cruiser.
