2001 Boxster S rotors/pads

got a 2001 boxster s with michelin pilot ZR18 tires (new) ... need brakes and rotors and there are soooh many choices out there and prices from $250 plus > $3500 plus ...Brembo. Currently have drilled (not slotted) rotors. An example out there are the SSR- Speed 4 rotor package with silver zinc finish, cross drilled and slotted ceramic pads, sensors and dampeners for $385. What say you to 917-30 boy.

So... What's your actual question?

Do you want to know what to buy?

Well, we then have to ask how do you use your car?

Someone who races their car has different needs than someone who commutes to work everyday.

When I did my brakes, I just replaced everything with the stock Zimmermann and Textar replacements. They work great in all conditions.

^ what he said
Street? Track? Autocross? All of the above?

Anything beyond quality stock/OEM replacements would just be bling unless you do track days with the car IMO

With our '06' base

I'm now at 1mm of wear on the fronts (50%) and roughly .5mm on the rears after 5 years averaging 4 DE's a year. No pulsation at all.

For the 987 it seems there are fewer choices--except for really expensive--on rotors so based on my experience, the front stock drilled rotors makes great sense at $255+ shipping from Suncoast.

Regarding pads, OEM are great just for the street; if you're tracking, I like Carbotech XP8's or KPF gold. My front XP8's lasted two years and when removed were right at 50%

still on stock rotors 50,000 miles. replaced all brake pads with EBC red stuff. stops like a sob after bedding them in. noticed huge difference over stock.

Stock is fine as others asked, what do you do with it? and..

.. what are you trying to accomplish? I still remain stock even though i track my car, although i will probably migrate to dual pads - a set for track only use.

but unless you have a specific issue, my answer is"nothing" - get Pagid OEM pads and proceed. Change your fluid with good stuff - ate etc.
