convertible top resetting procedure?
 

I was installing set of H&R springs today and while I had one side of the car up on jackstands, I operated the top (doh!) so I coudl gain clerance to rear shock mount... and well the top stopped working after about 3 inches travle and now despite all my efforts I can't get it to operate with the switch. I ended up doing emergency procedure per owners manual and popped off the operating arms just so I could close the top and drive it home. after several attemps on the net, I have yet to find proper top resetting procedure... can anyone help?

Is the e-brake up?

Yes, e brake is up but it's in safe mode because car was jacked up on one side. the owners manual has no information on how to reset it other then "drive slowly to your dealer" lol

well I got little furthur on this issue... today i went through the entire fuse block to see if they were all good, the convertible motor fuse (30a)was blown so I replaced it and the top went down. (yay!) then when i tried to put it back up it blew the fuse again (crap!) I repeated this process and went through 7 fuses... when I depress the top down button it's fine, but when I depress the top up it always blows the fuse.. is this something to do with some sort of safety feature? (since the problem occured when i tried to put the top down while one side of the car was jacked up) or pure coincedence? inputs please... thanks

As rigid as the Boxster body is, I see it hardly started your problem, but maybe. The Boxster tops is controlled by one motor and a cable goes over to the other side to operate that side which I believe is the right side. Check the short push/pull arms that connect the frame to the motor. Maybe one is bent. It sounds like the top retracts with little resistance, but when you put it up, it is needing more amps under stress to raise the top or you have shorted it somewhere. As I hear it, this mechanism needs to be pretty well right on.
