2001 2.7 into 1997 2.5 engine swap

I realize that the '00+ is egas and my 97 is cable driven.
Would it be more complicated than just swapping my '97 throttle body/intake manifold onto the '01 engine and putting it into my '97?

Yes. Your DME will be fairly unfriendly to the 2.7 motor as they require different software to run. another 2.5 or an early 3.4 would be far more straightforward with fewer Can-O-Worms issues because they are designed to run with your existing DME software.

Ok, I just thought the 2.7 was a slightly larger2.5. I didnt realize there were other changes made outside of the egas. I was hoping to swap over all 2.5 components and wire harness and assumed it would operate under the same program as a 2.5.

Back to the drawing board, 3.4's are tough to find aswell as a 2.5

It's not that bad to do this. Both an 01 2.7 and the 2.5 utilize the earlier return-type fuel system, and both use the same injectors. The 2.7 does have VarioRam, so you'll need to run the additional wire to the DME to control the flapper. As the 2.7 is E-Gas, you'd need a cable throttle from an early 3.4.

You COULD just swap the 2.5 manifold and throttle onto the 2.7 and it'd run fine- the added .2 liter of displacement isn't going to be a big deal for the DME to figure out, but if it were me I'd make the 2.7 work properly in the car, as it's not that much more work to do so.
