"Gong" sound won't stop!

I have a 99 porsche boxster and the "gong" sound will not go off after I take the key out of the ignition. It will go off once the door is closed but once I open the door it's on again. I was told that it could be the ignition going out. I am not able to look the door with my remote since this started happening. Any thoughts on this?

its your ignition switch. cheap audi replacement is advailable. I bet your radio will not turn off either.

does it make the clunk sound when u take the key out?
try this,
with the key in, turn it to the off position and pull quickly, allowing the clunk sound to clunk harder. also some electircal cleaner sprayed into the key hole may clean the contacts.

if that does not work, then just buy a new switch (10$) and install it in 45min-1 hour.

Great advice I'm going to try it. I'm not big on putting things together or even know where the battery cable is for this car. This is a fun car, however I'm a new Porsche owner. Not quite familiar with these great cars yet.
