Put oil pan in place with large rim (spout) facing rear of car
Make sure oil is at 180 degrees Celcius Loosen 8mm bolt**** Let oil drip for at least 15 minutes Loosen filter housing using key wrench and oil cap wrench Remove old filter Replace filter and rubber seal Tighten filter**** Tighten 8 mm bolt**** Fill oil 10 quart mobile 1 0W40 Tighten yellow oil cap Sorry, but I would not follow this - if my oil was 180 deg C I would be worried, let alone getting it that hot for an oil change. And I've never seen an M96 engine hold 10 quarts of oil - you would definately be overfilled....... |
I see no mention of screaming as the 180C oil runs down your arm. No mention of bleeding as the 8mm Allen busts your knuckels. Cussing at the dog who keeps sniffing you. And the manatory cold Killian's for a job well done.
I did my oil change today, 9 quarts of 10w40 Castrol. NAPA filter. |
ooohhhh, 10 quarts of oil is way too much. I usually only use 9 quarts and 1 extra quart will cause some issues.
|
I thought step 1 was turn on the radio?.... :D

Nice post, but this belongs in the DIY forum  I had a nice thread on this from last year but it looks like they delete older posts to save on memory space.
I use Pedros garage for a template on all my DIY projects http://www.pedrosgarage.com/Site/DIY_Projects.html A couple points of interest. Tools needed: #8 long allen wrench(longer better for torque), "B" oil cap wrench (autozone), Napa gold filter part #7211, and 10 quarts of Castro syntec 10W40. Jack and jack stands are handy. You only need to jack up 1 side of the car. I did rear passenger. napa gold filters are by far the best, and the general consensus is stay away from mobile 1 and without getting to expensive Castro Syntec has been the winner(general consensus from people smarter than me :D ) 1.) If you live in a colder climate you might want to use 5W40 or 10W40(but get the 40). Warmer climates can get away with 0W 2.) I Removed the oil cap in trunk to help the flow. The oil will continue to drip out for up to an hour. If you jack your car up when you do it, make sure to lower it over the oil pan so it can drain completely. if you do drain it for an hour you will need about 9.5 quarts. Best to stop at 9 quarts and start the engine and then recheck(with the dipstick). 3.)Make sure your spout cover on your oil pan is open as it might overflow from the massive rush of "HOT"used oil. The oil does come out fast and can be damn hot!! 4.)Walmart takes back used oil for free(upto like 5 gallons at a time). 5.) My local oil change place let me pay them $10 and they used my filter and oil on my SUV(not my porsche). This can be an alternative to those who don't wanna get dirty!! Projects completed: 1.) Serpentine belt...........$25 Gatorback w/ac 2.) Sparkplugs..................$42 Ngk-Ix-Iridium 3.) Radio replaced............$225 JVC HD50 (BB install) 4.) Tires............................$700 Sumitomo III Local shop 5.) Oil Change/air filter.....$94 catro syntec 10W40,napa gold,K&N air 6.) Speakers....................$143 Infinity Kappa F=4", R=6x4 plate 7.) Throttle body clean.....$5 Throttle body cleaner 8.) De-snorkel..................$.10 A few paper towels 9.) Alternator...................$221 Various Sockets 10.)Fuel filter...................$30 10mm socket and flat head screwdriver |
