best mod for lower rpm power increase?

hello-

I've been a Porsche owner for all of 4 weeks now, words cannot describe how I love the car! I have a 2000 Boxster S with 38k, intake exhaust and ecu. The car is fast! I was wondering how I can get a little more power from 1-3k rpm? I have seen talk about the Technotorque2 and also an underdrive pulley... any tried and true recommendations?

thanks-
Kyle

The underdrive pulley does improve torque at all rpms but... driving around below 2500rpms in a Boxster sort of misses the point don't you think? That is why God invented downshifting. :) 4-6k are your magic numbers for performance driving.

Welcome and enjoy the car.

+1 on that!

I believe the pulley is a good mod, I am yet to do it but it is going to happen the next time I replace the serpentine belt.

I am the first guy who will drive in 6th at 1,500 rpm both to save fuel and discourage myself from speeding in areas prone to police radar checks. When it is time to move though, you really want the tach to the right of vertical, our cars are simply not built for torque in the low rev range. I struggled with this at first as before my Boxster I had been driving big displacement V-8's. They are two different things completely. My advice is get used to seeing the needle in the 4-6k range as Topless suggested, and you might not even want to go down the route of modding anymore.

Enjoy your Boxster and welcome to the forum!

Great advice guys, thanks! I can see your points! I will probably do the pulley at some point, and keep it between 4-6k!

Thanks!
Kyle
