Hard top installation

Hi,

this is my first post & I've looked for an answer to this question elsewhere on here but cant find an answer so please forgive me if it's already been posted.

I'm hopefully purchasing my first Boxster tomorrow/thursday it's a 2003 2.7 in black (was after a 3.2 ) but with the new UK road tax laws coming in to effect next month the 2.7 made more sense.

Ok to my question, I'm considering buying a second hand hard top roof for the vehicle & I was wondering if the fixixng bolts need to be drilled or if there is anchor points for the bolts already drilled as standard on all models ?

Many thanks !

Welcome!
No drilling - there is a receptacle for the spin-locks that are simply bolted in place.
Best installation instructions I found:

Anchor points in the rear of the car are are pre drilled, You will have to buy a set of spinlocks to anchor the rear of the top to the car.

If you go to the Porsche Links on this Forum, and go to Mike Fock's web site. it will have a post on how to put a hard top on Your Box.

Good luck with Your new Boxster. :)

Thanks to everyone !

It's nice to come on a forum where people seem so helpful !

I'm still considering the 3.2 even if the car tax is double that of the 2.7 ;-)

Living in the UK, you might be better served by the '03s glass rear window as opposed to the plastic one of the 02 since you'd never have to worry about the temperature when lowering/raising the top and possibly cracking the plastic....although the extra power of the 3.2 may well offset that possibility for you and of course if you are running around with the hardtop on most of the time the plastic rear window is a moot point... :)

Good point, Well i bought the 3.2s & I pick it up tomorrow, i could have gone with a newer vehicle but this has tons of histore loads of reciepts & pretty good milage for the year, the rear screen has already been replaced which is a bonus & it's brand new but I'll look in to a glass rear at a later date.

First i just need to make sure that everything works ok on the car once i have it i my posession & buy a cover for the vehicle as i dont have a garage, then get to work changing the orange lights lights & pit some new rims on it etc, i dont intend to mess with it too much (just get it running well & looking sweet !
