OBDii codes from boxster?
 

Hi guys, looking at buying a plx devices gauge that reads from obdii port. Just curios to see if anyone knows what obd data channels are available on the boxster? I'm keen on a/f ratio, fuel pressure and maybe EGT's.

Anyone know?

No-one? Also curious on the speed of the boxster (1997 986) OBDII connection. Looking at Dashdaq's and similar and it seems that some cars have a quick connection (smooth data display) where as others are slower (jerky). Anyone have any experience with this?

I have a $129 OBDII reader from Advanced Autoparts that works well on the 986, it takes about fifteen seconds to read codes and does you the service of giving you a plain english version of the code instead of just a number.

And look at the pinouts and data speeds, they are standard. Wiki has them listed.

As to what data is available, look at the Durametric sw web page to see the data they are mining.

No idea if theis device will understand the raw data you are looking for in a Porsche

Here are the actual values that the older Durametric tool (ver 5.1.0) can read for the first generation 987 (DME 7.8.1-40) thru the ODB2 port. I made this chart a long time ago but I don't refer to it anymore because Durametric now has the newer tool (ver 6.x) with much more stuff.

If you are really interested in these data channels, you should invest in the Durametric package. You can view just about everything and data log the different channels. See attached graph of foot pedal vs. throttle blade that I exported from Durametric.

With my Pocketlogger, I can monitor:
-Throttle Position
-Intake air temp
-Calculated Load
-Fuel trim level
-the 4 O2 sensor readings
-Vehicle speed
-Engine Speed
-Coolant Temp
-Spark Timing
-Air Flow Rate

I'd imagine most non-Porsche specific OBDII readers will pull similar data.
