First post, ever.

Hi, my name is Frans. (Everyone say “Hi Frans.”)

Meet Roxanne. She is my “other woman.” We have been together since July 2009. She is: ‘04 - 2.7 – 18 (as in 18” rims). As far as I know, Roxanne has had no… “augmentations.”

You have heard it before (and you will hear it again), I love driving this car. I had her out today during my lunch brake. First nice day in a while. Her top was down and the wind was in my hair. I did a little driving on the highway, but mostly some nice curving roads. Ah, spring.

Anyway, like everyone else, when I get a good thing… I want more. In this case, power. I have done a lot of reading here and want to say that I have learned more here than on other Boxster forums. Thanks to All, for your input. And now, I am here and have a couple questions.

First, actually has nothing to do with power. I live in PA. We do not have front license plates, so I removed the front plate holder. Can I get little tabs (or inserts or something) to put in the holes in the bumper? I have yet to call the Porsche dealer, there is not one nearby.

Second question, and a little more involved, is a two part question about the underdrive pulley.

- Where did everyone buy their pulley and belt? Flat6Innovations has been mentioned in these pages, but it appears that they are not taking orders at this time (though I have yet to contact Jake Raby directly through the 986 forum).

-I have also seen mentioned in some posts about increasing the size of the power steering pulley. Anyone do both these mods? Would it add any noticable power to the wheels? Would it “underpower” my steering if I did both?

I have a lot of other questions, but wanted to start here.

Thanks,
Frans

Try this place for plugs for your bumper holes: http://bumperplugs.com/BPindex.html

Do a site search for info on underdrive pulleys. This has definitely been discussed before.

Thanks for the tip on the bumper plugs. They are ordered and on the way.

I have done a searches on underdrive pulley and found 5 different sources (Flat6Innovations, Cheeta, BBI, Mantis and RSS). However, I really have not seen a thread that compairs the pulleys size, performance or reliability. Sounds kind is odd, but none of the web sites actually tells the actual size of the pulley. Only Cheeta states "a 20% accessory reduction." I believe that the pully that Jake Raby was testing was 4 inches, but that is only from reading his posts- his product page is still under revision. So, I was kind of hoping to get some input compairing the different pulley to each other.

I have not seen a thread on using both the underdrive pulley and a larger powerstearing pully together. Maybe it is overkill, but I would like to hear if anyone has done it.

Frans

Awesome, That looks like G4 Dark Teal Metallic same color as mine. Beige interior is what I wanted, I have grey.

Thanks 2K3_Boxster_s. I was originally looking for a darker green, but this is what came along, and I like it.

Mind sharing the data Jake, or is that private?

Thanks in advance

Probably better with a little RTV in the holes- paint it the color of the car w/ touch-up paint. Atleast the RTV will flex with the car and you don't run the risk of the plugs falling out. I'm sure they are not expensive, but why pay for them? And with the RTV, it will be flush with the bumper
