Reverse Camera mounting/wire routing?

Hi Guys,

about to install a reversing camera in my 986 (see pic below of the camera I'm using) and just curious on how others have mounted and routed the wiring? Im planning on making some small brackets to actually mount the camera to the rear license plate which will hold it just above the rear plate.

Has anyone else mounted a rear camera on a boxster before? Any tips/tricks you learnt from your experience? I'm planning on just powering the camera off the reverse light power, but im not sure where I can route the wiring for power/video for the camera. At this stage Im thinking through the license plate lights? Could just put a tiny slot there to get the wires through?

Cheers,
Sam

A few people have done this, but I haven't seen detailed instructions. If it's wireless, you shouldn't have a problem installing it besides a little hole into the trunk for power. If it's wired, I would recommend using the rear speaker cable route to get the wire from the clamshell to the dash.

Where are you mounting the display?

Hey,

it's a wired camera as I didn't like the quality of the wireless ones. The display is my pioneer double dun head unit. I'm all but dine, just need to find a reverse signal wire near the dash or route one from the reverse lights back to the front of the car.
