Boxster Fuel filter??

Question might seen stupid but i am unable to find in the car diagrams if the Boxster 2005 s has a fuel filter that need to be replaced once in a while. Contacted an online store they cannot find anything either. Is there any chance the Boxster doesnt have one? Thanks!!

up to 2001, the fuel filter was on the passenger side in the front. after 2001, the fuel filter is integrated into the gas tank and does not require replacement.

Prior to '02, the fuel filter lives under the plastic chassis cover on the P-side just in front of the engine.

In '02, Porsche eliminated the fuel return line and because of this, they claim the Fuel Filter is doing half the duty and is therefore 'Lifetime'. They moved it inside the tank on the fuel pump/fuel sender stalk.

Of course, no filter can ever be 'Lifetime' if it does an effective job of filtering.

But, replacement units are not available separately, they are intergral to the stalk. They get 'changed' when the other components on the stalk fail causing replacement of the entire stalk - SPENDY!

I suspect that as they clog, they work the pump harder as a result.

While we've not seen many issues from clogged filters in later cars, we have seen some fuel pump failures. Cause and Effect?

Cheers!

My 01's fuel filter was just changed out for a replacement. I think they must have instituted the move to the fuel tank for the 02 model yr. cars.

@ Boxtaboy - Yep you're right!

The non-return fuel system, along with the in-tank fuel filter, was an '02 model year change to reduce HC Emissions.

Typo on my part - Good Catch - changes made!

Cheers!
