M96 "101" Engine Assembly School a HUGE success!

Last week Charles from LN Engineering and I hosted our inaugural M96 "101" engine assembly class here at the Flat 6 Innovations training facility.

The internals of the M96 engine is not well understood by most anyone, including Porsche Dealership Technicians who rarely ever do any heavy repair to them. In this class we instructed a group of six participants all the necessary evils for correct engine assembly including the dreaded piston assembly and cam timing procedures. These participants ranged in profession from Automotive Shop Owners to Aerospace Engineers, Professors and even a Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Surgeon!

The class was a HUGE success!! Using a mix of power point presentations, lecture and actual hands on student interface Charles and I were able to answer the complex questions and address the most dreaded aspects of assembly in an easy to understand "shop" atmosphere.

We have many more of these classes scheduled in the future, see this portion of the site for more information about attending.

Here are a couple of Testimonials we have received thus far..

I have just completed Jake Raby’s M96 101 class and I got to attest that the three -day class has provided to me the most technically exhilarating experience in 30 years. Jake has masterfully taken the mystery out of this complex piece of hardware and presented it in a practical, easy to understand format. My learning curve on the Boxster has been exponential and I now have the necessary knowledge to properly maintain and upgrade my vehicle. It refreshing to listen and learn from someone who is a pioneer and expert in his field and Jake is nothing short of being prolific. I want to give kudos to Charles Navarro for providing his application expertise for this class.

Q: Did you find the class valuable and money well spent?

The whole trip set me back roughly the direct expenses associated with two DE weekends. I’ll never miss those weekends over a decade of track time, but the knowledge and experience I now have with the M96 engine lasts forever—at least as long as I last.

Here are some photos from the class. What a good time we had!

Thanks! Its looking like in the future we could be doing these classes at an enthusiast and pro level as often as every 6 weeks or so!
