Removing gas tank door
A stupid and short question, how is the gas tank door held in place, just with the 4(?) small plastic clips?
Have to get some smallish part to the bodyshop for the right color for my GT3 bumper and skirts, and i had to ask, as i don't want to crack the plastic any more than i already did :D |
I'm not sure, but when I had my skirts painted, I just gave the bodyshop one of my painted rear bumperettes that just unscrews from the bottom. Not sure if you have bumperettes in Finland cars though.
|
Euro Boxsters don't have the bumperettes, but my car was originally an US model, which was imported to Finland, and the first thing i did when i got it was to throw the bumperettes away, plasticweld the holes and paint the rear bumper. They were not painted anyway, so no help from them. :p
Quite funny that it's an US model made in Finland, and later imported back :D |
It might be easier to remove the back cover of your side mirror.
|
Could be, but then again, how do I remove one of them without breaking any clips? :D
|
Well, you could also just do the desnork mod, and while you're at it, then give the paint shop your painted air vent. Just don't blame me if you break any clips. :D

I thought about the aie vent too, but imagined that it would be easier for the body shop to get the correct color from a flat part. Guess i'll just hand over the vent.
Funny that you mention, I already did the desnorkel mod, and obviously broke half of the clips. Appearently every clip hates me no matter what part i touch :D |
When I got the car used, the gas door spring wouldn't work, so I had to replace the hinge. I destroyed the old one getting it out, then found out that, IIRC, there is a double-detent that if you push on both buttons the door snaps out. See attached pic
