Bad Misfire!

i own a 986 and yesterday whilst driving on the freeway it started misfiring badly, i couldnt leave it in top gear as the revs died down drastically and luckily made it to my house. the problem is that the local garage is closed for another week :(
any idea what it could be?
i had a very similar problem on my vw a while ago and it happened to be a coil, so im hoping it would be something similar, not too costly!

It's easy for a coil connection at a spark plug to disconnect, especially if you had spark plug work done recently and the connector was not clicked on properly to begin with.
That's exactly what it will feel like. If you can get under the car via wheel wells and give each coil wire a little tug you'll see if you have a disconnected one. could be a bit of a PITA to reconnect, be can do. Otherwise, a bad coil, a bad spark plug, etc. The on-board diagnostics can tell you what cylinder the misfire is at, but if you don't have access to one, do what I suggested.

I concur on the coil connection...

... check all 6 of them.
That's most likely the culprit.
Happy Boxstering,
