Suspension Help!

Hey,

I need some help with my suspension. It might not have a fix.....

19 inch rims
H&R Coilovers 2inch drop

Loud cluncking sound when going over rough roads.

Can I do anything to the suspension to soften it or take away the clunking
sounds.

Would going back to 18z with more rubber be a fix?

Sounds like you over stuffed your fender wells...look some kind of rubbing or hitting when the suspension bottoms out:ah:

Nope, no tire rubbing. Lot's of room in there. No inside fender wear or scratches.

Great ride. High speed turns no problem. Very smooth. Wayyyy better then stock.

Buttt when I hit a bumpy road, it's very rough. Clunking sound.

I've heard coilovers can be noisy. Something to do with the spring clicking on its mount when compressed due to torque twisting, or some such thing....

Don't have any personal experience just going from memory of previous threads.

Check and make sure that there are 2 washers on the each of the shocks. There should be one above and below the factory mount. Sounds like a loose shock to me.

If the mounting nuts on the top of the shock arent torqued down properly, it will make a clunk when you hit sharp bumps. Could be the single nut on top of the coilover or the 3 nuts that mount to the body.

Or could be your convertible top and your mind playing tricks on you.

How many miles on your car?

Is the clunking coming from the front, rear or both?

Similar problems with my '02 S @ 70k mi.

There's also a common wear issue with the rear control arm. There's a crimp that loosens and the arm gets noisy.

Thanks! Makes sense... I will have to wait untill the summer to check. But I will
run this by my mechanic.

gschotland, the car is a 2002 with 70,000 kms. Only coming from the back. Front
seems to be fine. Just a cluncking sound when going over bumpy roads.
