Roars above 4000rpm...
 

I dropped my Boxster off at www.thespeedgallery.com to get the 60k mile service done. They're very cool there, did the service and also installed a K&N and perforated the airbox for me for a total of $988. Most other places were quoting upwards of $1200 for the 60k mile service alone. Anyway, the airbox perforation is crazy. Below 4000rpm, it's normal, but as soon as you peg that range with the pedal on the floor, it roars. Of course, it's not any faster, as expected, but it sounds really nice.

I may have them supercharge the car later this year. We had a nice discussion regarding exactly what we could do. I'm a salesman...I'm a business development manager...so I was expecting them to attempt to sell me something. To my surprise, they took the consultative approach. We orginally talked about a 996 engine swap, but they gave me the pros and the cons, and talked about how supercharging plus some other bolt-ons, could get close results for a lot less money. Really good shop, and I'd suggest stopping by if you are in the LA area.

do you have a standard boxster or the S?

if you have a standard Boxster I would say skip the SC and
just git yourself an S.
You'll neve be satisfied with Power (the never ending dilemma)
once you get used to it the drug wears off. I personally like to tinker
with suspesion, I can read about coils and sways for days.
A nice set of ultra light wheels, SUPER Sticky Azenis and a lowered stiff suspension on the autocross/track is a surreal feeling when cornering.
Hitting an apex just right is Karmic.
Now with a 250 HP boxster (right out of the box) that feeling must be even better.

it's a normal boxster. i am considering picking up a 996 actually as well...who knows...

where did they perf the airbox? I imagine the face towards the intake vent so you would not get the hot engine bay air.

I'm wondering the same thing...
