vacuum leak / exhaust leak questions

gentlemen,
I have a noticeable exhaust leak on the driver's side. best way to describe the sound would be equivalent to putting a playing card in a bicycle tire to make it "motorocycle" like. almost exact same sound.

I have a "lean" issue at the moment that tends to set off a CEL every time I step on it and drive it aggressively. Code 1128 (bank 1-3 yada yada)

Here's my questions:
1. would fixing the exhaust leak fix the issue with the lean condition (which I assume is caused by a vacuum leak or the exhaust)
2. if my mechanic does a smoke test, will that find vacuum leaks as well?
3. does anyone have a REALLY good picture of the whole exhaust system so I can see where all the pipes meet. hard to do without a lift

thanks

What model yr do you have? The exhaust diagram you show is for the 2005+ 987 boxsters. The pre-2005 986 models have a different set up.

Also, banks 1-3 are on the passenger side if I'm not mistaken, so I'm not sure why you're getting an 1128 if your leak is on the driver's side. I'm no expert though.

oh! i have a '00 tiptronic non-S

i hear the pinging on the driver's side when I'm in/out of the cabin
i don't know if the two issues are related so i'm not sure if the code being thrown is actually due to the exhaust leak, but was wondering if fixing the exhaust leak would fix the lean issue
