Tip on removing seats in Boxster

Hi all! I´m currently doing some work on a -97 Boxster. 996 turbo front with turbo headlights are going to be fitted, quilted leather torpedo wall and 996 GT3 style seats are planned. I started off to strip the interior and came to the seats but the bolts where stuck, so after 2 hours hard work together with a lot of WD40 all bolts came off from passengers seat except for one in the back. That particularly one is now almost rounded... So if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to shoot.

Well if you rounded off the bolt head trying to get it out, you're going to find it difficult to get any other tools on it as space is limited. How did you manage to strip one of those bolts anyway? They're not torqued that tight and certainly shouldn't have any corrosion or anything on them.

Might try finding a pretty big version of those EZ-Out sockets, I don't think you'd have enough room to drill it out (and it's a pretty big fastener to drill out), maybe you'd have enough room to tack weld some material onto the bolt head to help get it out but I'll be honest this doesn't sound fun.

Are you using the right socket to do the job? See this thread:

The seat bolts should not be that hard to undo, since they are only tightened to 48 ft lbs.

The problem is that these were badly corroded and was stuck as €%&/!

I´m stopping by autozone today to see if they have something that I may find useful.

Thanks for all help!

If you still can get a socket on it, or for those of you that try this in the future, try an Impact driver. The kind you hit with a hammer. They are usually under $10. Worked like a charm on mine that were corroded.
