Changing engine oil every 16000 miles

Hello my friends

I use my 2000 Boxster in summer only, by nice and warm day ,and I am not racing it. So around 1500-2000 miles per summer!
It is garaged otherwise !
Several books say change engine oil at 16000 miles interval. Some say once a year!
I am using Mobil 1....
What do you think, please? Thanks in advance

Change once a year, right before storing the car for winter.

do they sell Mobile 1 5w-40 where you live? because they don't here and I have to use Castrol. just wondering what you are using. I think you could get a little more mileage than that out of fully syn. but if you have the money, can't hurt. 9 quarts is like $70 here.

I change mine once a year or every 5,000 miles, whichever comes first. I use Mobil 1 0W 40 European Car formula, which seems to be readily available in Northern California.
