Exhaust mods = crying babies :)
While I didn't think my exhaust setup (Crios drill mod + fabspeed secondary bypass pipes) was THAT loud, I got chastised by Mrs. SD_Boxster today for making a little kid in a stroller cry. I goosed the throttle a little when I started up the Box after breakfast out and apparently things were louder than I thought.
Personally, the kid looked a little old to be in a stroller, and thus is probably a wuss and will wind up driving a '99 Intrepid... If anyone cares to hear, this is what my exhaust sounds like. Be sure to listen on stereo speakers if possible - no bass on laptop speakers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnuxzKHw0TM |

LOL, Way to justify your mod, by calling a little kid a wuss!! :p My line of thinking would be, "I probably just saved the kids life, as now they can hear me backing up". :D Just listened to the vid. Sounds good to me. Not too loud but lets everyone know you are there!! |
Sounded like a little of "Kings of Leon" playing in the background too.
Nice exhaust sound!! |
Don't feel bad...one time, when I was still living in NYC, and was starting up my car in my parking garage, a lady with her young daughter was walking right behind my car, and when I gave it a little rev prior to pulling away, the daughter fell down cause she was scared. Doh! Felt bad, as I didn't think my Dansk exhaust was that loud either. :D

Oh yeah? Grown men wet themselves when I blip the throttle. Taste my pain:

Sounds like...
Alien cats!

Are you sure it isn't rotted out exhaust pipes?

what does the DANSK sound like?

Ok this thread gets my vote for the funniest thread of the week. I laughed when I read the first lines of the thread and every response thereafter.
Thank you. I really needed a hard laugh today. |
The baby's crying and tears were from the joy of a porsche flyby!! I know that I have been the same way.
|
Poor Baby!
I listened to your exhaust on your video and it doesn't sound any louder than my stock 986 exhaust note. I guess I better avoid small children when I drive around. :D
|
It's hard to capture in a recording - but trust me, my car doesn't sound stock at this point.
|
Guess it all depends how small those children were ;)

Crios exhaust mod
SD, I finally drove my car after I did the mod (I made the holes a little bigger than I wanted ) and I think it sounds really good. I drove to work in the morning with the top up and home with it down(about 70 miles each way). It's not as noticable with the top up but when it's down you can hear it up to about 3k rpms. I am seriously thinking of going a little bigger on the holes, the exhaust sounds like music to my ears. I have always liked a good sounding exhaust, which is why both my Harley's have after market pipes. :)
|
I'd rather hear a flat six burp to life than a chopped Harley exhaust on throttle, noise pollution is a fact of modern life, get used to it chillins'.

Too funny!!! I'm glad babies love the mod too!

Hey Crios.... when did you take the picture in your thread? Not to be off topic but your tires are worn unevenly which is a sign of misalignment which is usually from worn out struts....
Remember, safety first. I love the sound of my exhaust and desnorkled intake... i like to gun it when I pass people walking on the side of the road, 9 out of 10 will usually notice the car or even turn around to watch it. Sounds like music to my ears and I guess others must enjoy it too... |
I am DEAD sure that your exhaust system is a blight on Mother Earth. Have you no shame????? This is such an UNGREEN thread, such that it makes me weep for our Planet.
It is people like you who will be the downfall of civilization as we know it. You sire, are worse than Hitler! Actually, it sounds kind of cool! Thanks for the sound clip. :D |
