Power steering reservoir vent

On my power steering reservoir there is a small hose, maybe 1/4" diameter by 4" long. Does it hook to anything or is it just a vent. Thanks

Just a vent.

Speaking of the power steering fluid. I just topped mine off the other day, but it's not so easy to figure out how much to add. There's a fill line on the dipstick cap, but it says it should reach that mark when the fluid is cold. I, of course, checked it right after I drove the car home, so wasn't quite sure how much to add. The level was right at the mark with the fluid warm, so I just added a little bit to the reservoir.

are you using OEM fluid or like a Prestone type?

Power steering fluid, like ATF expands considerably when hot. Check it cold and I'm sure you'll see that more will need to be added.

I used the OEM fluid which is made by Pentosin.

Thanks. I'm too lazy to check now.... let's see, open the top halfway, put top service strap up (I have an 03 top with glass), take out rear speaker box, pull off engine cover carpet, remove engine cover.....sheesh, all that effort just to get to my engine to top off my power steering fluid or change my air filter!@#% Next time, I'm buying a 911 so that I can just open the rear trunk and see the engine! :D
