Personally, I think it looks like a toupee!!! You're not supposed to see it, but you do.
If you had a light scratch that wound around the car like the edge of the bra, you'd go nuts trying to remove it, so why put it there in the first place?
Don't follow too close, especially when roads are dirty. In most cases a tiny chip or two, when touched up well, is only seen by you.
