access panel and parking brake adjustment

I want to do the front adjustment to tighten up the park brake on early 99 boxster. Body panels scare me because they can break so easily. Their seems to be a panel on the SIDE of the storage box; what tricks to get access?? ALSO, any tricks to getting the body panel off to expose the engine access behind the seat? Thanks!

To adjust the parking brake, you don't need to pull the console out or side off. All adjustments can be done by removing the bottom of the "oddments" compartment. Attached is page 3 from the B&M short shift install. Follow step 6 which will give you access to the adjusting mechanism.
